Course Summary:
Students will be given high level training in real world problem solving on many kinds of electrical systems to include:
residential, commercial and industrial as well as high voltage systems and many other potential scenarios they may
face in the work place.

Prerequisites:
Students should have the following:

  • Be actively employed in the water or wastewater field
  • Have a high school diploma
  • The desire to learn new skills and abilities

Goals:
To increase the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of students in the work place by showing examples of failures in
electrical systems, what was done to remedy the problem and how to prevent them in the future. Provide training in
the proper use of meters and test equipment in order to make better decisions and recommendations to their customers.

Objectives:
• Students will be given instruction in the methodology and “step by step” process of troubleshooting.
• Students will be given exposure to multiple meters and test equipment used in troubleshooting.
• Students will be given instruction on proper consulting methods when talking with customers and how to personally influence a positive outcome.

Student Assessment:

The students will be assessed on their understanding and application of the techniques and methods explained in the course and their ability to use the testing equipment.
